Jaipur, the capital of Rajasthan is a wonderful tourist attraction in Rajasthan. Hawa Mahal is one of the most common and popular tourist attractions in Jaipur. Hawa Mahal was basically used as a veil by the royal women folk to watch the proceedings on the road below. Today it is the one of most visited monuments in Jaipur. The City Palace is another beautiful landmark that was built by Kachchwah Rajput rulers of Jaipur. The City Palace is a classic example of Mughal and Rajput architecture. A part of the palace today is museum that houses a collection of rare manuscripts, weapons, Mughal carpets and costumes, and Mughal and Rajasthani miniatures. Jaipur is the pristine jewel in the desert sands of Rajasthan. With its origin burned deep into the pages of history, the city still exudes a magical charm, an ambience of chivalry and romance ever present in its culture. Widely known as the Pink City, Jaipur was constructed in the early eighteenth century and named after one of its greatest rulers, Maharaja Jai Singh II. The king and his architect built this city using ancient Hindu principles of civic planning and design and the city of Jaipur is very well laid out, with broad and open streets.

City Palace.
Jaipur city is known for its many palaces and forts, which are a major attraction for tourists to Rajasthan. One of these major landmarks of the 'pink city' is the City Palace Complex. The City Palace was built by Maharaja Jai Singh II of the Kachhwaha clan of Rajputs, but a lot of changes and additions were made to the original structure by his successors.

The architecture of the City Palace is a synthesis of Rajasthani and Mughal styles. The Complex comprises of many structures, courtyards, gardens and buildings. There are many splendid small palaces and halls in the complex, such as the Chandra Mahal, Mubarak Mahal and Badal Mahal. There is also a famous temple called the Shri Govind Temple and a museum inside, named the City Palece Museum.
